I remember, when I first started Sacred Heart in 2015, the Head of Year 7 telling us that although the school seems dauntingly large now, by the time we leave in five, or even seven years, we would be able to walk around blindfolded. At the time, this prospect seemed terrifying, the end of the week at a brand-new school already seeming far away enough, seven years felt practically like a lifetime. Eight long years later - filled with awards, detentions; trips to France and the Science Museum; and of course, COVID lockdowns which saw our GCSEs cancelled and our A-levels almost as disrupted as the DLR, the start of Year 7 feels both like a distant memory and disconcertingly familiar. I imagine I would be able to find my way around without looking, although I don’t think anyone would want to see that theory tested! |

My time at Sacred Heart shaped the person I am today: The friends and teachers I met there helped me to grow as a young woman. I have so many fond memories of my time in this school - most of them where I was joking and laughing loudly with my friends.
One thing I have learnt from my time at Sacred Heart is to not take too much notice of what others think of you: I devolved this thick skin when I was in the library in sixth form and came to the sudden realisation that the glass walls of the upstairs corridor were not soundproof! Luckily everyone in the room appreciated the jokes every time! It is through blunders such as these that I gained confidence - the friendly and homely environment that envelops Sacred Heart made me feel like it was normal to make mistakes and learn from them. I truly blossomed as a young woman there, and all the memories, fun and embarrassing alike, have turned me into the person I am today.
